8:07 a.m. - wake up. wait it's like 7 minutes before I set my alarm to wake me up. go back to sleep.
8:32 a.m.: wake up. crap. slept in.
8:40 a.m.: get daughter dressed for school. tell her we have to hurry because we are running late and we don't want her to miss circle time.
8:52 a.m.: send husband and daughter out the door and hop in shower.
8:53 a.m.: start to think about all the stuff I still have to do today and then about all the stuff I should do tomorrow and then the reading that I forgot about just now and wait a minute wasn't I supposed to email so and so about that thing with that one guy?
8:54 a.m.: exit shower. head to bedroom to figure out what to wear that will simultaneously make students fear and respect me while also making them ask "why is she such a snazzy dresser and how come I can't be that cool." with a little "ooo nice shoes" thrown in.
8:55 a.m.: realize that I didn't rinse the conditioner out of my hair.
8:56 a.m.: letting it go.
8:57 a.m.: decide on outfit, throw it on, put on some lotion and realize that I only shaved one leg....
8:58 a.m.: letting it go.
8:59 a.m.: put hair into bun.
9:00 a.m.: decide to wear pants.
9:01 a.m.: decide that students spend far too much time worrying about what their teachers wear when they should be worrying about laughing at my jokes...
9:02 a.m.: figure out the one cardigan I wanted to wear is in the laundry.
9:03 a.m.: decide that clean clothes are overrated.
9:05 a.m.: think "there can't be any harm in sitting down for a minute and checking in on my email. I mean what could happen? Like it's going to make me late for class cause I get so sucked in to answering emails that are way too old or finally writing those emails that are my list of things to do. Maybe I'll take a second to check out my Google alerts and find out what's going on in the world. You know the world - that place where real people wake up in the mornings, drink coffee, watch some Today show and then head out for the day to their job where they answer phones and eat tacos for lunch.
9:55 a.m.: realize I have to rush to class or I will be late.
9:56 a.m.: ride bike like a mad woman.
10:00 a.m.: arrive at class and try to will my body not to show any signs that I've been rushing to get there.
10:03 a.m.: begin teaching. love teaching. love my students. love the subject. love these days.
11:50 a.m.: finishing teaching. head to office. walk up three flights of stairs carrying 20 lbs of books and start thinking about how I've been protesting the kindle out of some sort of loyalty to actual physical books - highly overrated this old fashioned book adoration is.
11:51: did I just have a thought in Yoda speak?
11:53: still walking up the stairs
11:54: almost to the top of the stairs.
11:55: I guess I don't have to feel bad about not getting any exercise today...
12:00p.m.: in the office, set up, sit back, try to decide what to do today.
12:01p.m.: feels like a good day to read and grade papers. Maybe I'll finish that book I'm doing a book review on. Woo hoo- productivity is fantastic!
4:00 p.m.: It's 4:00 already? Hello? Sheesh. Crossed a few things off my list to do, added several more...
5:30 p.m.: Maybe I should go home.
5:45 p.m.: I like Facebook
6:22 p.m.: Okay now it's really time to go home.
6:44 p.m.: Now it's time to buckle down and do more work.
7:00 p.m.: Oh look, old episodes of 30 Rock...
7:08 p.m.: *ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ*
